Enzo Cucchi was born in 1949 in Morro d’ Alba, and he currently lives and works in Rome. He started painting and writing poems as an autodidact. At the beginning of his career he focused on abstract installations, then moved towards representational painting and drawing, and started to collaborate with Sandro Chia and Francesca Clemente. Since the eighties he has become an internationally renowned artist, considered as the most visionary member of the Transavanguardia group. His works on canvas often include drawings and poems, re-elaborate art history and literature, or refer to the big principles of life and death in a symbolic way.
